Carry the Glass Together Duo Role Tiers
Who walks in front, who matches feet, and which pairing actually clears hammers.
Carry the Glass Together does not give you classes. It gives you two avatars and one pane. This page ranks roles you assign, not loot. Pair it with the players hub, the leader guide, and the callout sheet. Hazard ranks stay on obstacles.
If your duo has no roles, you are both the leader and both the follower. That is the F-tier pairing.
S — Caller plus matcher
One player calls Wait / Walk / Jump / Now. The other player matches. The caller is usually the person with the better view of the next hammer, often the front-left or front-right depending on how you picked up the pane. The matcher does not add extra jumps “to help”. This pairing clears the gantry in how to beat because only one brain is negotiating with the mallet.
Swap the caller if the current one is tilted. Rank is about the structure, not about who has more hours.
A — Platform specialist plus navigator
Useful on mixed devices. PC or console with a tight jump leads. Phone matches. The navigator watches the tier list ranks and names the next prop (“A beam”, “S hammer”). This pairing is A because it still needs a spoken count. If the specialist also tries to be funny in chat, it drops to B.
B — Two equal friends with no caller
You will clear grass and the first water. You will argue on hammers. Promote yourselves to S by picking a leader for one segment at a time. B is where most real-life friends sit. It is fine for night one. It is not fine for the tower if you want to finish.
C — Stranger plus silent random
From how to find a partner. Can work if you do a plank test. Fails if the random sprints. Keep this pairing in the opening until they prove a Wait. Do not take a silent random into S-tier hammers.
D — Two sprinters
Both hold sprint, both jump early, both open menus. This pairing farms shatter clips. If that is the content you wanted, stay on D and do not ask the wiki why the pane is gone.
F — One player plus a script
A script is not a partner. It will not hold the other side of the glass in a way the listing designed. It can also hold your account. Read script safety and then go find a human.
Spatial roles on the pane
Independent of caller/matcher:
- Inside / outside on a beam. Outside has more fall risk; put the calmer player there.
- Blue / red cosmetic sides. The promo art shows a blue avatar left and a red avatar right. You do not have to copy that, but picking a color and keeping it avoids “your left or my left”.
- Front / back on a long carry. Front watches hammers. Back watches stretch. Back is allowed to say Hold if the front is pulling.
These spatial roles are A-tier habits. Combine them with an S-tier caller.
How to rank your current duo
After three shatters, ask: did we have one caller? If no, you are B or worse. Did we wait a full hammer cycle? If no, you are not applying the obstacle list. Fix roles before you grind the same corner. The updates page will not patch your communication.
When a pairing works, favorite each other and reuse it. A stable S-tier duo beats a rotating C-tier pickup group even if the pickups have “better” avatars.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for duos who keep shattering the pane.
Who should lead if we are both new?
Whoever has the stabler camera. Usually PC over phone. See leader.
Can we rotate the caller each checkpoint?
Yes. Rotate at a checkpoint, not mid-hammer.
Does avatar color change physics?
No. Color is a communication aid, not a stat.
Is a paid carry an S-tier pairing?
It is not a pairing we recommend. Play the obby.
